Rotary Memorial Fountain Project
The Rotary Memorial Fountain Project is a community-driven initiative to replace broken and outdated water fountains at Pullman’s City Playfields with modern, ADA-accessible, pet-friendly drinking fountains that serve people, pets, and the broader community.
Led by the Rotary Club of Pullman in partnership with the City of Pullman Parks and Recreation Department, the project reflects Rotary’s enduring commitment to "Service Above Self" and to creating practical, lasting improvements that enhance quality of life in our community.
At its heart, the Rotary Memorial Fountain Project honors the lives and legacies of Pullman Rotarians whose service helped shape our community. Inspired by the life and service of John Brewer, the project is designed to grow over time as a living tribute to Rotary members and community members who have given so much to Pullman.
Project Overview
The Rotary Memorial Fountain Project focuses on replacing non-functioning and outdated water fountains at Pullman City Playfields with new, multi-use fountain units designed for modern public spaces.
Each project site will include:
- ADA-accessible drinking fountains
- Water bottle filling stations
- Self-draining pet bowls
- Durable, low-maintenance construction
- Decorative engraved bricks, purchased by donors, incorporated into the surrounding area
Why This Project Matters
Public parks are places where community life unfolds — where families gather, children play, teams compete, and neighbors connect.
Access to clean, reliable drinking water is a basic public amenity that supports health, inclusion, and environmental responsibility.
This project advances Rotary’s mission by:
- Providing clean water and supporting public health
- Modern drinking fountains help reduce dehydration and support safe, healthy outdoor activity for park users of all ages.
- Promoting environmental stewardship
- Bottle-filling stations reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles and encourage sustainable habits.
- Strengthening community access and inclusion
- ADA-compliant design ensures that people of all abilities can access clean drinking water, while pet-friendly features reflect how community members use parks today.
- Investing in shared civic spaces
- Replacing broken and non-functioning fountains helps ensure Pullman’s parks remain welcoming, functional, and well cared for.
How You Can Support the Project - Purchase a Commemorative Brick
Engraved bricks are the primary fundraising source of the Rotary Memorial Fountain Project. Each brick becomes a permanent part of the fountain site and a lasting tribute to people, pets, organizations, or causes that matter to you.
Bricks may be engraved:
- In remembrance of a family member, friend, or loved one
- In honor of a beloved pet
- To recognize a family, organization, or business
- As a personal or Rotary-related tribute

All brick orders, engraving details, and payment processing are handled directly through Brick Markers.
Please note: If you wish to purchase a brick in honor of a veteran, we encourage you to do so through the Pullman Veterans Memorial Park project
