Digital Literacy Project: Mwarano Primary School
The Rotary Club of Pullman and the Rotary Club of Nairobi-Lang’ata (Kenya) are partnering to bring digital access, training, and resources to more than 800 students at Mwarano Primary School in rural Murang’a County, Kenya.
Through this Digital Literacy Project, students will gain access to computers, the internet, teacher training, and digital learning content, helping to prepare them for a technology-driven future while strengthening international Rotary partnerships.
Key Objectives:
- Equip students with critical digital skills.
- Foster innovation and creativity in underserved communities.
- Contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4, 5, 8, and 9).
Project Scope:
With your help, we are transforming the classroom into a modern computer lab that will give students the tools they need to thrive in the digital age. Here’s what this project will deliver:
- 26 desktop computers – giving every student a chance to build digital literacy and hands-on computer skills.
- Furniture for 26 computer stations – durable desks and chairs designed to support focused learning.
- Reliable internet connectivity – opening the door to online learning resources and global knowledge.
- CCTV security cameras – ensuring the lab remains safe and protected at all times.
- UPS (uninterruptible power supply) – protecting equipment and learning time from power outages.
- Access control system – providing secure, managed entry to the lab.
- Roof repair – creating a safe, weatherproof space for students and teachers.
- Teacher training – equipping educators to confidently use technology in their lessons.
- Digital learning content – engaging, curriculum-aligned materials that bring subjects to life.
- Classroom refurbishment – fresh paint, new flooring, and upgrades to make the space welcoming and inspiring.
- Alarm system – adding another layer of protection for valuable resources.
Together, these upgrades will create a safe, connected, and inspiring learning environment that empowers students to succeed in today’s digital world.
